Fade to Black 2004
Fade to Black ★★★ 2004 (R)
Jay-Z's brilliant goodbye letter to the public eye. What's touted as the final concert of his career is magnificently captured in an exploding Madison Square Gardens in November of 2003, along with studio time during the making of “The Black Album.” Jay-Z waxes ill-osophic about the methods to his badness, gets a haircut, and scowls as his posse bumrush his Coleco-Vision, dropping furious rhymes everywhere he turns. The entire affair is a little too long, but the energy carries well. 109m/C DVD . USD: Michael John Warren; C: Scott Lochmus, Theron Smith, Paul Bozymowski, Luke McCoubrey.
