America's Heart and Soul
America's Heart and Soul ★★ 2004 (PG)
Series of vignettes seeks to capture the diversity and indomitable spirit of America, as a saccharine and ineffective answer to “Fahrenheit 9/ 11.” Viewers literally fly over the U.S. and swoop down to meet a cowboy in Colorado, a rug weaver in Appalachia, a dairy farmer in Vermont, a trombone prodigy in Louisiana, a Methodist pastor in San Francisco, an Olympic boxer in Chicago and so on. Although the scenery is gorgeous and the people compelling, you're never with them for very long or reach any sort of depth. 84m/C DVD. D: Louis Schwartzberg; C: Louis Schwartzberg; M: Joel McNeely.
