The 5000 Fingers of Dr. T ★★★ 1953 (G)

In Dr. Seuss' only nonanimated movie, a boy tries to evade piano lessons and runs right into the castle of the evil Dr. Terwilliger, where hundreds of boys are held captive for piano lessons. Worse yet, they're forced to wear silly beanies with “happy fingers” waving on top. Luckily, the trusted family plumber is on hand to save the day through means of an atomic bomb. Wonderful satire, horrible music, mesmerizing Seussian sets. The skating brothers (who are joined at their beards) are a treat. 88m/C VHS, DVD . Peter Lind Hayes, Mary Healy, Tommy Rettig, Hans Conried, Noel Cravat; D: Roy Rowland; W: Theodore “Dr. Seuss” Geisel, Allan Scott; C: Franz Planer; M: Frederick “Friedrich” Hollander, Hans J. Salter.
