Duchess of Brabant . Name variations: Maria de France. Born in 1198; died on August 15, 1223 or 1224; daughter of Philip II Augustus, king of France (r. 1180–1223), and Agnes of Meran (d. 1201); married Philip of Namur (son of Margaret of Alsace and brother of Baldwin IX); became second wife of Henry I (1165–1235), duke of Brabant, on April 22, 1213; children: two daughters.
