Dianda, Hilda (1925—)

Argentine composer, musicologist, professor, and titular conductor of the Chamber Orchestra of the National University of Córdoba, who conducted many international orchestras. Born in Córdoba, Argentina, on April 13, 1925.

Hilda Dianda studied in Buenos Aires under Honorio Siccardi from 1942 to 1950. She then went to Italy where she studied conducting with Hermann Scherchen in Venice. In 1958, the French Government invited her to join Pierre Schaeffer's Groupe de Recherches Musicales. A year later, she was in Italy at the invitation of Italian radio and television to study electronic music. In 1964, Dianda won the Medal of Cultural Merit in Italy for her work there. She returned to Argentina from 1967 to 1970 where she was professor of composition, instrumentation, orchestration, and technical and orchestral conducting at the National University's School of Fine Arts in Córdoba. Dianda often participated in international festivals as a conductor and composer.
