Blachford, Theodosia (1745–1817)

Irish reformer. Born Theodosia Tighe in 1745; died in 1817; married Reverend William Blachford, in 1770 (died 1773).

Theodosia Blachford was present at the inaugural meeting of the Friends of the Female Orphan House in 1790. In 1802, she founded the House of Refuge on Baggot Street. Prominent in the Methodist movement in Ireland, Blachford also authored a number of tracts.
