American swimmer. Name variations: Sippy Woodhead. Born Feb 1964 in Riverside, California; attended University of Southern California.
At World championships, won gold medal in 200-meter freestyle, 4 × 100-meter relay, and 4 × 100-meter medley relay (1978); at Pan American Games, won gold medal in 100meter, 200-meter and 400-meter freestyle, 4 × 100-meter relay, and 4 × 100-meter medley relay (1979) and 200-meter freestyle (1983); at Los Angeles Olympics, won a silver medal in 200-meter freestyle (1984); held 7 World records; won 18 AAU/US national titles. Inducted into International Swimming Hall of Fame (1994).
