American stage, tv, and screen actress. Name variations: Ruth Godfrey. Born April 24, 1914, in Perth Amboy, NJ; died Dec 3, 1969, in Perth Amboy.

Made Broadway debut in The Ivy Green (1949); other NY appearances include The Ponder Heart, The Happiest Millionaire, Rashomon, Malcolm, Happy Days, Lord Pengo, Absence of a Cello and Little Murders; films include Up the Down Staircase, The Nun's Story, To Kill a Mockingbird, No Way to Treat a Lady and Midnight Cowboy. Nominated for Tony award for performance in The Birthday Party (1968); won Emmy for the Hallmark production of "Little Moon of Alban."
