White, Anna Lois (1903–1984)
New Zealand painter and art teacher. Name variations: A. Lois White. Born Nov 2, 1903, in Auckland, New Zealand; died Sept 13, 1984, in Auckland; dau. of Arthur Herbert White (architect) and Annie (Phillipps) White.
Taught at Elam School of Art (1928–63); was considered significant in mainstream Auckland art world (1930s–40s); exhibited with New Group, which she helped form in 1948; work housed by Auckland Art Gallery and Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa.
