Margaret Maria Verney, a historical writer, chronicled the long history of her husband's family and investigated the small-town life and the educational system that surrounded her in the regions of Anglesey, Wales, and Buckinghamshire, England. Born Margaret Maria Williams in 1844, she married Captain E.H. She planned and executed a series of Memoirs of the Verney Family that eventually ran to six volumes. She completed the first two in 1892, the third and fourth (which she published herself) in 1894 and 1899, and two supplementary volumes, dealing with the life of the family in the 18th century, before her death in 1930.
