Turner, Anne (1576–1615)
Turner, Anne (1576–1615)
English murderer. Born in 1576; executed by hanging in 1615 in Tyburn, England; married George Turner.
Anne Turner, wife of George Turner, was a friend of the astrologer Simon Forman; she may actually have been Forman's daughter. In 1613, she helped Frances Howard , countess of Somerset, to poison Sir Thomas Overbury, and in 1615 was hanged at Tyburn. Frances Howard, while later also sentenced to death, instead was pardoned by the king, James I, and merely confined in the Tower of London for six years.
