Monck, Mary (c. 1678–1715)

British poet. Name variations: Mary Molesworth; Mary Monk; (pseudonym) Marinda. Born Mary Molesworth, c. 1678, in England; died 1715 in Bath, England; dau. of Robert Molesworth, Viscount Molesworth, and Letitia Molesworth (daughter of Richard, Lord Coote of Colooney, Ireland); m. George Monck (MP from 1703 to 1713).

Wrote Poems and Translations upon Several Occasions (1716); best known poem is "Verses written on her Death-bed at Bath to her husband in London"; also translated Latin, Italian, and Spanish poetry.
