Mehlig, Anna (1846–1928)
German pianist . Born in Stuttgart, Germany, on July 11, 1846; died in Berlin on July 26, 1928; a pupil of Liszt.
Anna Mehlig was one of many of Franz Liszt's students who studied with the great composer and preserved his style. The art of the great Liszt has been passed from one generation of pianists to the next, and in the musical world, this lineage remains precious. Mehlig's playing was regarded as spirited and energetic. She enjoyed a successful career not only in Europe but in England and America as well. Of her career in America, Liszt said, "Mlle. Mehlig has blossomed so well and borne fruit."
