Makarova, Tamara (1907–1997)

Russian actress and teacher . Born on August 13, 1907, in St. Petersburg, Russia; died in January 1997; graduated from the Leningrad Theatrical Institute, 1930; married Sergei Gerasimov (a film director, died 1985).

While a student at the Leningrad Theatrical Institute, Tamara Makarova began her film career which was closely aligned with that of her husband, film director Sergei Gerasimov. She starred in Seven Brave Men, Big Earth, The Young Guards, and To Love a Man. She began teaching, eventually becoming a professor at the State Institute of Cinematographers in 1958.
