German politician. Born May 26, 1950, in Straubing, Germany; attended high school and college in Sacramento, California, and the Munich campus of the University of Maryland.
Served as deputy mayor of Gifhorn (1991–99); as a member of the European People's Party (Christian Democrats) and European Democrats, elected to 5th European Parliament (1999–2004).
