Dugdale, Henrietta (1826–1918)

Australian feminist. Born Henrietta Augusta Worrell, 1826, in London, England; died June 17, 1918, at Point Lonsdale; dau. of John Worrell; m. a man named Davies (died); m. William Dugdale; m. Frederick Johnson, c. 1905; children: (2nd m.) 1 son, 2 daughters.

Immigrated to Melbourne, Australia, with 1st husband (1852); remarried after his death; led women's rights movement in Victoria and became president of Women's Suffrage Society (1884); campaigned on women's issues and fought for social reform; wrote A Few Hours in a Far-off Age (1883), attacking male ignorance; was a secular humanist.
