English actress. Born May 23, 1901, in India.
Made 1st stage appearance in Holborn in the chorus of The Trojan Women (1922); appeared in many productions under the management of Lena Ashwell, and Lewis Casson and Sybil Thorndike; joined Old Vic (1928), appearing as Ophelia, among others; other plays include Queer Fish, Two Olivers, An Average Man, As You Like It, While Parents Sleep, Alison's House, These Two, Misalliance, The White Devil, The House of Borgia and The Ivory Tower.
