Egyptian princess. Pronunciation: Ar-SIN-o-ee. Birth date unknown; died in 247 bce; daughter of Lysimachus, king of Thrace, and Nicaea . (who was the daughter of Macedonian general Antipater); became first wife of Ptolemy II Philadelphus (r. 285–247 bce), around 285; children: Ptolemy III Euergetes; Berenice Syra (c. 280–246 bce); and others.
Accused of conspiring against her husband Ptolemy II Philadelphus, who may have already been contemplating a second marriage with his sister (Arsinoe II Philadelphus ), Arsinoe I was banished to Coptos, in Upper Egypt, around 275 bce.
