MMPI (Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory) A personality test developed in the 1940s for clinical use, but also employed by US sociologists in the 1950s and 1960s. Subjects sort descriptive statements as either true of themselves, false, or ‘cannot say’. Scores on fourteen scales yield the personality profile. Arguably the test's reliability, validity, and standardization are all poor.
