Publius Herennius Dexippus

c. 210-c. 270

Greco-Roman general and historian who wrote a chronicle of world history, among other works. In c. 267 Dexippus led the defense of Greece against the nomadic Heruli. In addition to his world history, his writings—of which only fragments exist today—include a history of Rome's third century wars with the Goths, as well as a chronicle of Alexander the Great's (356-323 b.c.) successors.
