Oplegnathidae (knifejaw; subclass Actinopterygii, order Perciformes) A small family of robust, deep-bodied, marine fish, typically with the teeth in both jaws fused to form a parrot-like beak with sharp cutting edges. The spines of the dorsal, anal, and pelvic fins are very strong. There are about four species, found in the Indo-Pacific region.
