Lycogala (class Myxomycetes) A genus of cellular slime moulds whose fruiting bodies (aethalia) resemble small puffballs. L. epidendrum is one of the commonest myxomycetes and is cosmopolitan in distribution. It is found on dead wood in woodland habitats.
