Kermit A widely used set of utility programs that allows a computer to support terminal access across a network, and to carry out file transfers. The Kermit package, which is freely available, requires a suitably configured computer – typically an IBM-compatible personal computer or an Apple Macintosh with a network card or modem attachment.
