LÉON, XAVIER (1868–1935), French philosopher. Léon founded the important philosophical journal, Revue de Métaphysique et de Morale, which he edited from its beginning in 1893 until his death. In both of these ventures he had the collaboration of Élie *Halévy. Léon organized several international congresses of philosophy. He wrote on the German philosopher, Fichte, publishingLa Philosophie de Fichte (1902) and Fichte et son temps, 2 vols. (1922–27).
