Parāvṛtti

Parāvṛtti (Skt., parā + □vrt, ‘turn away’). A revolution, according to Buddhists, in one's understanding of reality. The term is not found in the Pāli Tripiṭaka but is used frequently in the writings of the Yogācāra (Vijñānavāda) and of Buddhist Tantrism. Through parāvṛtti the bodhisattva attains the body of a Tathāgata (tathāgatakāya) and is beyond the reach of the illusory world. This is nirvāna.
