Tanggula Shan
Tanggula Shan (täng-gōō-lä shän) or Tangla (täng-lä, däng-lä), mountain range, southeast extension of the Karakorum range, in the central Tibetan plateau, on the Tibet-Qinghai border, W China; rises to about 20,000 ft (6,100 m). It is the watershed for the Thanlwin and Mekong rivers. Tanggula Shankou (Tang Pass), alt. 16,760 ft (5,108 m), is on the main route connecting Tibet with the rest of China.
