Gerreidae (mojarra, silver biddy; subclass Actinopterygii, order Perciformes) A family of small marine fish that have an oblong to deep, silvery body, a small, protractile mouth with tiny teeth, a long dorsal fin, a forked tail fin, and long, pointed pectorals. They inhabit coastal tropical to subtropical waters. There are about 40 species, found world-wide.
