Göppingen
Göppingen (göp´Ĭng-ən), city (1994 pop. 56,770), Baden-Württemberg, S Germany. Its manufactures include machinery, precision instruments, textiles, plastics, and toys. Mineral water is bottled and shipped. Göppingen was chartered by the Hohenstaufen in the mid-12th cent. The city was twice (1425, 1782) devastated by fire. Noteworthy buildings include a church (15th cent.) and a castle (1559–69).
