Arbuckle Mountains

Arbuckle Mountains (är´bŭkəl), range of low, rolling hills, rising c.700 ft (210 m) above the prairie, S Okla.; remnant of mountains formed in the Precambrian. Interesting geological formations have resulted from the varying erosional rates of the different rock types found in the area. In the foothills is the Chickasaw National Recreation Area (9,522 acres/3,853 hectares), which features mineral springs, streams, and lakes.
