Renfrew

Renfrew (rĕn´frōō), town (1991 pop. 21,550), Renfrewshire, W central Scotland, on the Clyde River, near Glasgow. It has shipyards and manufactures rubber, paint, and soap. A busy Clydeside port since the 12th cent., it became a royal burgh in the 14th cent. The title "baron of Renfrew" has been held by the Scottish sovereign's eldest son since 1404.
