Steptoe and Son British television comedy series (1964–73) about a rag-and-bone man father and son, in which Harold Steptoe's social aspirations are constantly frustrated by his father's contentment with their current lifestyle; the name Steptoe may be used allusively for a dealer in second-hand goods.
