presenteeism
presenteeism the practice of being present at one's place of work for more hours than is required by one's terms of employment. The term is recorded intermittently from the 1930s, but current usage is associated with the anxieties of the 1990s, when increasing job insecurity has appeared to result in some employees working for much longer hours than required by their contractual obligations.
