ferrite A sintered ferromagnetic material plus ceramic that combines the high magnetic permeability of the former with the high electric resistance of the latter. This means that ferrite can be used for magnetic cores in high-frequency and high-speed switching circuits in which iron losses are a problem. Ferrite components are widely used for suppressing EMI.
