Bruiser ★½ 2000

First film from horror icon Romero in more than seven years offers a great central premise, but little else. Henry Creedlow (Flemyng) is a nice guy who gets used by everyone around him. His cheating wife, his overbearing boss, and his dishonest stock broker all push Henry around, but he never stands up for himself. That is, until the day that he wakes up to find that his face has been replaced by a blank white mask. Being “faceless” allows Henry to assert himself and get revenge. The film is boring and filled with many unlikable characters, the worst of which is Henry. The last act is simply absurd and one can't help but wonder what has happened to the once great Romero. 99m/C VHS, DVD . Jason Flemyng, Peter Stormare, Leslie Hope, Nina Garbiras, Tom Atkins, Jeff Monahan; D: George A. Romero; W: George A. Romero; C: Adam Swica; M: Donald Rubinstein.
