Stevens, Ronnie 1925–2006

PERSONAL

Full name, Ronald George Stevens; born September 2, 1925, in London, England; died November 11, 2006, in Northwood, Middlesex, England. Actor. Stevens began his acting career on the stage in London in the late 1940s. He appeared in a number of theatrical productions through the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s, including nearly every Shakespeare play, as well as productions such as 'Tis a Pity She's a Whore, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, Owl and the Pussycat, and The Gingerbread Man. Stevens was a founding member of the Actors' Company, a stage company. Stevens also had numerous film and television credits. His first film appearance was in 1952 in Mr. Potts Goes to Moscow. A character actor, Stevens starred in Doctor in Love, Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines, Goodbye Mr. Chips, and a host of others, including the 1998 remake of The Parent Trap. In 1957 Stevens worked in the television series Dick and the Duchess. He guest starred in such television series as Goodnight Sweetheart, Tales of the Unexpected, Rumpole of the Bailey, and Hetty Wainthropp Investigates.
