Community Environment: Located 50 miles from Winston-Salem, Wilkesboro is the county seat of Wilkes County. The community offers churches of various faiths, shopping areas, and adequate medical facilities. The Kerr Scott Dam and Reservoir provides boating, fishing, water skiing, and swimming. The Blue Ridge Mountains around the Boone area provides winter time sports such as skiing and ice skating.
