Description:

District-supported, comprehensive, coed. Awards associate, bachelor's, and master's degrees. Founded 1976. Setting: 28-acre urban campus. Endowment: $15.4 million. Research spending 2003-04: $2.9 million. Educational spending 2003-04: $9507 per student. Total enrollment: 5,165. Faculty: 335 (230 full-time, 105 part-time). Student-undergrad faculty ratio is 13:1. 3,967 applied, 79% were admitted. Full-time: 1,935 students, 58% women, 42% men. Part-time: 3,031 students, 67% women, 33% men. Application fee: $20. District resident tuition: $1800 full-time, $75 per credit part-time. Nonresident tuition: $4440 full-time, $185 per credit part-time. Mandatory fees: $270 full-time, $135 per term part-time. Part-time tuition and fees vary according to course load.

Collegiate Environment:

Drama-theater group, choral group, marching band, student-run newspaper. Social organizations: 61 open to all; national fraternities, national sororities; 2% of eligible men and 3% of eligible women are members. Most popular organizations: Caribbean Student Association, Theater Arts Ensemble, National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. Major annual events: homecoming, basketball games, Miss UDC Pageant. Student services: health clinic, personal-psychological counseling. Campus security: 24-hour patrols. College housing not available. Learning Resources Division Library plus 1 other with 544,412 books, 607,162 microform titles, 594 serials, 19,635 audiovisual materials, an OPAC, and a Web page. Operations spending 2003-04: $2.6 million. 1,500 computers available on campus for general student use. A campuswide network can be accessed. Staffed computer lab on campus.
