Description: State and locally supported, 2-year, coed. Awards certificates, transfer associate, and terminal associate degrees. Founded 1958. Setting: 177-acre small town campus. Endowment: $3 million. Total enrollment: 9,636. Student-undergrad faculty ratio is 23:1. 10% from top 10% of their high school class, 32% from top quarter, 60% from top half. 8 valedictorians. Full-time: 4,512 students, 50% women, 50% men. part-time: 5,124 students, 56% women, 44% men. Students come from 21 states and territories, 8 other countries, 3% from out-of-state, 0.4% Native American, 23% Hispanic, 4% black, 1% Asian American or Pacific Islander, 1% international, 39% 25 or older, 10% live on campus. On-campus residence required through sophomore year. Community Environment: Levelland, population 14,500, is a rural community enjoying a temperate climate. The area is served by bus, an airport, and Routes 114 and 385. The city has a public library, hospital, churches of major denominations, theatres, and active civic, fraternal, and veteran's organizations. Local recreation includes outdoor sports and rodeo. Part-time employment is available.
