Jack Ervin EDI Scholarships (Professional Development/Scholarship)

Purpose: To recognize and support the advancement of outstanding practitioners; to offer an advanced level of training on a broad range of subjects and skills required to carry out an effective economic development program; to prepare participants for professional certification eligibility; and to provide graduates the necessary level of education. Focus: Economics. Qualif.: Applicants must be residing and working in North Carolina; must be members of NCEDA for duration of the program; and must have completed two years of economic development work. Additionally, applicants must show completion of or plans to complete the Basic Course, a prerequisite to the Economic Development Institute. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on financial need and professional development.

Funds Avail.: $1,950 (total value). To Apply: Application package must include documents demonstrating need for financial assistance as well as documents demonstrating planned career path in the profession (past, present and future) and how the program fits into those plans; letters of recommendation are suggested. Purpose: To recognize and support the advancement of outstanding practitioners. Focus: Economics. Qualif.: Applicants must be residing and working in North Carolina; must be members of NCEDA for duration of the program; and must have demonstrated financial need. Additionally, applicants must show completion of or plans to complete the Basic Course, a prerequisite to the Economic Development Institute. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on financial need.

The Dan Stewart Scholarships (Professional Development/Scholarship)

Purpose: To recognize and support the advancement of outstanding practitioners by paying tuition to the one-week basic economic development course at UNC-Chapel Hill. Focus: Economics. Qualif.: Applicants must be: residing and working in North Carolina; members of NCEDA for the duration of the program; and willing to complete all course-work. Criteria: Recipients are selected based primarily on financial need, followed by demonstrated professional development and presentation of the application itself.

Funds Avail.: $575. To Apply: Application package must include documents demonstrating need for financial assistance as well as documents demonstrating chosen career path in the profession (past, present and future) and how the program fits into those plans; letters of recommendation are suggested.
