Emma and Meloid Algood Tuition Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial assistance for African-American students who are active in community service and planning to work in the field of social work. Focus: Social work. Qualif.: Applicants must be African-American students who have a 2.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale; must express research interest in the black community; and must be enrolled for full-time study at an accredited US Bachelors of Social Work program in the semester that the award will be granted. Criteria: Applicants are evaluated based on academic achievement; community service; and financial need.

Funds Avail.: $1,000. Number Awarded: 1. To Apply: Applicants must submit a purpose letter (two to three pages, double-spaced, typewritten) which must include the following: professional interests, future social work aspirations, previous social work experiences, honors and achievements, research interests within the black community; two letters of recommendation, preferably by a professor, field instructor, or a prestigious community-based leader; financial need statement with a breakdown of students' assets and liabilities; and an official academic transcript from the school.

Dr. Joyce Beckett Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial assistance for individuals completing graduate work and to develop professional skills and talent to work in the African-American community. Focus: Social work. Qualif.: Applicants must be African-American students who have a 2.5 GPA on 4.0 scale; must express research interest in the black community; and must be enrolled for full-time study at an accredited US graduate social work program in the semester that the award will be granted. Criteria: Applicants are evaluated based on academic achievement; community service; and financial need.

Criteria: Applicants are evaluated based on academic achievement; community service; and financial need.

To Apply: Applicants must submit a purpose letter (two to three pages, double-spaced, and typewritten) which must include the following: professional interests, future social work aspirations, previous social work experiences, honors and achievements, research interests within the black community; must submit two letters of recommendation, preferably by a professor, field instructor, or a prestigious community-based leader; financial need statement with a breakdown of students' assets and liabilities; and an official academic transcript from the school.

Guynn Family Foundation Book Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial assistance for African-American students who are active in community service and planning to work in the field of social work. Focus: Social work. Qualif.: Applicants must be African-American students who have a 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale; must perform 40 hours of community service in an underserved African-American community; must express research interest in the black community; and must be enrolled for full-time study at an accredited US social work program in the semester that the award will be granted. Criteria: Applicants are evaluated based on academic achievement; community service; and financial need.

Funds Avail.: $750. Number Awarded: 1. To Apply: Applicants must submit a purpose letter (two to three pages, double-spaced, typewritten) which must include the following: professional interests, future social work aspirations, previous social work experiences, honors and achievements, research interests within the black community; must submit two letters of recommendation, preferably by a professor, field instructor, or a prestigious community-based leader; financial need statement with a breakdown of students' assets and liabilities; and an official academic transcript from the school.

Cenie Jomo Williams Tuition Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial assistance for African-American students who are active in community service.

Focus: Social work. Qualif.: Applicants must be active, paid members of NABSW; must be students who have a 2.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale; must be African-American students with demonstrated community service; must be students who will conduct research of interest to the black community; and must be enrolled for full-time study at an accredited US social work program in the semester that the award will be granted. Criteria: Applicants are evaluated based on academic achievement; community service; and financial need.

To Apply: Applicants must submit a purpose letter (two to three pages, double-spaced, and typewritten) which must include the following: professional interests, future social work aspirations, previous social work experiences, honors and achievements, research interests within the black community; must submit two letters of recommendation, preferably by a professor, field instructor, or a prestigious community-based leader; financial need statement with a breakdown of students' assets and liabilities; and an official academic transcript from the school.
