3878 International Municipal Lawyers Association Canadian Scholarships (Professional Development/Scholarship)
Purpose: To provide opportunities for the improvement of law practice by supporting young Canadian lawyers intending to attend an IMLA Conference. Focus: Law. Qualif.: Eligibility is limited to lawyers in Canada, a significant component of whose practice in the last 12 months has been municipal law, and who are under 40 years of age as of December 31, 2008. Eligibility is not restricted to IMLA members. Criteria: Selection will be based on the committee’s criteria.
Funds Avail.: Fund covers most of the usual IMLA Conference expenses: event registration, hotel and airfare. To Apply: Interested applicants may apply by writing to IMLA. Applications must include the following information: name, address, e-mail address, fax number and telephone number; details of the applicant’s municipal law experience including approximate percentage of the applicant’s practice spent on municipal law; a proposal of not less than 300 words describing the applicant’s topic/presentation on Canadian municipal law; a statement certifying that the applicant is under 40 years of age within set date; and a brief sample of the applicant’s written work.
