George M. Brooker Collegiate Scholarships for Minorities (Graduate, Postgraduate, Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To facilitate increased minority participation in the real estate management industry by providing educational assistance. Focus: Real Estate; Management. Qualif.: Applicant must be a member of a minority (non-Caucasian) group; must be a citizen of the United States; must be beginning junior or senior year of undergraduate work or pursuing graduate or post-graduate studies; has declared a major in real estate or a related field; have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale within his or her major; and has completed two courses in real estate or indicate intent to complete such courses. Criteria: Recipients are chosen based on merit.

Funds Avail.: $1,000 (undergraduate); $2,500 (graduate). Number Awarded: 2 (undergraduate); 1 (graduate). To Apply: Applicant must submit complete application (available in the website), three letters of recommendation of which one must come from the college dean, written essay (not to exceed 500 words) explaining the applicant’s interest in the industry, and a letter of recommendation from local IREM chapter president or officer. Donald M. Furbush Scholarships (Professional Development/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide funding for individuals to follow the institute’s entire curriculum required to qualify for the CPM designation, ARM certification and Accredited Commercial Manager certification, thus promoting professional development. Focus: Real Estate; Management. Qualif.: Nominees must be of legal age in the country in which the nominee resides; and must be actively employed in the real estate management industry. Criteria: Selection is based on commitment to professional excellence, financial need, strength of recommendation and personal commitment to gaining CPM designation.

Funds Avail.: up to $5,000. To Apply: Applicant must submit complete application (available in the website) to: IREM Foundation Administrator, Attn: Furbush Scholarship: CPM, 430 N. Michigan Ave., Chicago, IL60611-4090. Deadline: March 31.

IREM Foundation Minority Outreach Scholarships (Professional Development/Scholarship)

Purpose: To encourage professional development among under-represented minorities by providing financial assistance. Focus: Real Estate; Management. Qualif.: Nominees must be a citizen of the United States or Canada; must be of legal age in the state or country in which the nominee resides; must be an ethnic minority; must be a current CPM candidate or have already submitted application for CPM candidacy; and has not received other scholarships or similar awards from IREM. Criteria: Award is given to applicant who is qualified for CPM candidacy; who has demonstrated commitment to the industry as evidenced by years in the property management profession; and has demonstrated commitment to IREM through ARM participation or previous course attendance.

Funds Avail.: up to $5,000. To Apply: Applicant must submit complete application (available in the website), along with a brief statement explaining why he or she feels

Paul H. Rittle Sr. Memorial Scholarships (Professional Development/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide opportunity worthy individuals who are financially incapable the to attend IREM’s courses, either in a classroom setting, online, or home study formats. Focus: Real Estate; Management. Qualif.: Applicants must be of legal age and currently employed in some aspect of the real estate field. Criteria: Recipients are selected on the basis of financial need; commitment to real estate management as a career; and character as demonstrated by community involvement.

Funds Avail.: $2,000 (for CPM designation or Accredited Commercial Manager certification); $1,000 (for ARM certification). Number Awarded: Varies. To Apply: Applicant must submit official application form, employer affidavit and financial status form; a personal letter describing the objectives and information of the applicant; for U.S. citizen: a letter support from the local president or officer supporting your application; a copy of applicant’s signed federal income tax return and Form W-2 for previous year; for international applicants: letter from employee or client if self-employed and total income indicated in Annual Income Statement for the previous year (if married include your spouse).
