AFSA Scholarship Program (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To financially assist the undergraduate studies of eligible, dependent children of the Air Force Sergeants Association. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicants must be a dependent youth of an AFSA or AFSA Auxiliary members. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on the applicant's academic record, character, leadership skills, writing ability, versatility and potential for success.

Funds Avail.: $500-$3,000. To Apply: Applicants must submit a completed application form; a copy of proof of sponsor's military status (copy of DD 214, copy of the sponsor's ID and discharge letter); official transcript of grades (high school graduates must include all grades from 9th to 12th grades, college applicants must include cumulative record of grades); a letter of recommendation written

on the official school stationary with original signature (for high school graduate, letter must be written by the school principal or counselor; for college student, letter must be written by a college professor); a typed paragraph of the applicant's objectives (double-spaced) answering the question, “What do you plan to do with the education you receive?”; an essay (double-spaced) answering the question, “What is the most urgent problem facing society today?” and a typed, double-spaced two-page essay about a current, controversial issue; two self-addressed, stamped, blank postcards. High school graduate must include a valid record of combined SAT I or ACT scores (must be recorded on an official school transcript). Deadline: March 31.
