It is reported that Isaac Asimov once shook hands on a "treaty" in a New York City cab with Arthur C. Clarke, author of 2001: A Space Odyssey, in which they agreed that each would tell the public that Isaac Asimov was the world's number one science writer, and Clarke was the world's number one science fiction writer. In truth, the two rank side by side in both fields.
