Pieltaiflt, Dieudonné-Pascal, South Netherlands violinist and composer; b. Liège (baptized), March 4, 1754; d. there, Dec. 10, 1833. He received his musical training in Liège. By 1773 he was in Paris as a member of the orch. at the Concert Spirituel, where he later appeared as a soloist (1776–80), sometimes in his own concertos. From 1782 until about 1792 he played in orchs. in London. By 1801 he settled in Liège. His large output included 30 violin concertos, 167 string quartets, and 6 violin sonatas.
