Parabosco, Girolamo
Parabosco, Girolamo, Italian organist and composer; b. Piacenza, c. 1524; d. Venice, April 21, 1557. His father, Vincenzo Parabosco, was an organist. He was a student of Willaert in Venice, where he later held the position of 1st organist at San Marco from 1551. Among his extant works are 21 Madrigali for 5 Voices (Venice, 1546) and 2 instrumental pieces. See F. Bussi, ed., Girolamo Parabosco: Composizioni (Piacenza, 1961).
