Moran-Olden(real name, Tappenhorn),Fanny

Moran-Olden(real name, Tappenhorn),Fanny , German soprano; b. Oldenburg, Sept. 28,1855; d. Berlin, Feb. 13, 1905. She studied with Haas in Hannover and Götze in Dresden, making her concert debut at the Leipzig Gewandhaus (1877). She made her operatic debut under the name Fanny Olden as Norma in Dresden (1878), then sang at the Frankfurt am Main Opera (1878–84), the Leipzig City Theater (1884–91), and the Munich Court Opera (1891–95). She made her Metropolitan Opera debut in N.Y. on Nov. 28, 1888, as Valentine in Les Huguenots; was on its roster until 1889 and again in 1900–01. In 1896 she toured Europe. After retiring from the stage (1902), she taught voice at Berlin’s Klindworth-Scharwenka Cons. She married the tenor Karl Moran (1879) and the baritone Theodor Bertram (1897).
