Ley, Salvador
Ley, Salvador, Guatemalan pianist and composer; b. Guatemala City, Jan. 2,1907; d. there, March 21,1985. He studied at the Berlin Hochschule für Musik (1922–30), concurrently studying piano with Georg Bertram (1922–30) and theory and composition with Klatte (1923–25) and Leichtentritt (1928–29). He was director of the National Cons, in Guatemala City (1934–37; 1944–53), and then taught at the Westchester (N.Y.) Cons. (1963–70).
