Hacquart, Carolus
Hacquart, Carolus, Netherlands composer and instrumentalist; b. Bruges, c. 1640; d. c. 1701. He received training in viola da gamba, lute, organ, and composition. Following a sojourn in Amsterdam, he went to The Hague in 1679. He publ, a distinguished set of 10 sonatas, a 3, 4, as Harmonia parnassia (Utrecht, 1686). Among his other works were 12 viola da gamba suites (1686) and sacred music.
