Feldhoff, Gerd
Feldhoff, Gerd, German baritone; b. Radervormwald, near Cologne, Oct. 29, 1931. He studied at the North West Music Academy in Detmold. He made his operatic debut in Essen in 1959 as Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro-, then sang at the Stadtische Oper in Berlin, the Hamburg State Opera, and the Frankfurt am Main Opera. From 1968 to 1978 he appeared at the Bayreuth Festivals. He made his Metropolitan Opera debut in N.Y. as Kaspar in Der Freischutz on Sept. 28, 1971. He was especially noted as a dramatic baritone; he also made tours as a concert artist.
